He also talked to her on the phone, before driving down from IL to meet her.

Alice Johnson last was seen in the area of Watermill Avenue and Eastport Terrace in Orlando, according to a news release.

John Byrns was arrested Sunday after police found him in a Holiday Inn Express hotel room with the girl.

"What we know is that he drove from IL to Orlando, picked up the child here in Orlando just down the street from her residence and then was making his way back to IL", said Orange County investigator Sgt. Brandon Ragan. Investigators said Byrns and Johnson met while playing the online game Minecraft, WESH reported.

Authorities said Byrns had no prior criminal record, but they are continuing a "very active investigation" into whether he contacted any other children inappropriately. The two then traveled to Macon, where they stopped at the hotel. He credited "extraordinary police work" for "the best possible outcome any of us could have hoped for".

The FBI, Orange County Sheriff and Bibb County Sheriff in Georgia worked on the case.

Demings said the episode was a "cautionary tale" that should remind parents to monitor their children's online activity and be aware of who they are communicating with.

Byrns is being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and is expected to be charged.

"I would say she's lucky to be alive".

Demings said Byrns is not a registered sex offender.

"We don't want this situation to repeat itself", Demings said.

Bryns is in custody and more charges may be filed.
