All-women staff to run Central Railway's Pune train on Mar 8

CR has already been awarded for its step to appoint an all-women staff for Matunga station.

Later, Sanitary Napkin Dispenser and Incinerator machines were inaugurated by Bandana Gupta, President of SWRWWO, Mysuru in Ladies Waiting Room at Mysuru Railway Station, Divisional Railway Manager's Office and Coaching Depot Office to promote health and hygiene among women fraternity.

Past year on March 8, Central Railway ran a ladies' special local train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) to Panvel.

(G.N.S) Dt. 08 Mumbai To mark the International Women's Day on Thursday, Indian railways deployed all women ticket checking staff on Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express. Asia's first woman loco-pilot Surekha Yadav will motor the train along with assistant loco-pilot Trushna Joshi.

In July 2017, Matunga station became the first station in the country to be run by a team of 41 women. According to news reports, from March 8, both train no. 11029 DN Koyna Express and train no. 11008 UP Deccan Express will have women-only staff for good.

Over the last couple of weeks, small stations like Ajni near Nagpur, Chandragiri near Tirupati and Gandhinagar in Jaipur have been handed over to all-woman staff, who are discharging every duty - from that of station masters to cleaners, from guards to signalling functionaries - without fanfare. Helpdesk will be kept at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on March 8 where women staff will be sitting and will help the commuters.
