The hopeful said: "I'm sorry for this Katy - Taylor Swift", acknowledging the two stars' feud. Katy appeared to act like it was not a big deal, replying, "Oh, you don't have to be sorry".

On a per-episode basis, Katy Perry may be the most headline-grabbing judge in American Idol history.

The moment in question occurred after an American Idol contestant wrapped up their performance when American Idol judge Luke Bryan posed a question to him, saying: "Who do you look up to as an artist?", People reports.

In addition, Perry apologized for her end of the feud during an interview with Ariana Huffington.

The Grammy Award winning singer certainly stood out with her fashion accessory - as she has been accused of "throwing shade" at her sworn enemy Taylor Swift. Katy stumbled over her words as she responded to the Swifty. In 2014, Taylor Swift told Rolling Stone that her hit song "Bad Blood" is about the bad blood between herself and another famous female singer.

Without reading the room - or, maybe, reading the room and deciding to do it anyways - the poor guy blurted out his answer: Taylor Swift. She then went on Carpool Karaoke and declared that it was Swift's job to finish their fight because she started it. "We've had our differences but I just continue to say, 'God bless her on her journey". She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour.

Many Katy Perry fans think her Witness single "Swish Swish" is a response to Taylor Swift's song "Bad Blood". American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
