Rumours for the upcoming 2018 iPhone are in full swing but news for next year's are already popping up with the Taipei Times reporting the 2019 iPhone model could have a triple rear lens.

In an investors note seen by CNET, analyst Jeff Pu predicts that Apple may release an iPhone in the second half of 2019 with three rear 12-megapixel cameras and optical image stabilization (OIS).

Apple might introduce triple cameras on the iPhone next year. At least one of the lenses was said to have 12 MP resolution.

News about Apple iPhones is always exciting.

An addition of a third lens would enable 3x optical zoom on an iPhone for the first time ever, allowing users to magnify an image in the viewfinder by up to 3x without any blurry reduction.

Huawei's new P20 series has three phones from which the Triple Lens setup is available on the most premium device i.e. Huawei P20 Pro phone.

It is believed that the extra lens on the 2019 iPhone would help it to achieve 5x optical zoom. Recently, Chinese smartphone maker Huawei launched its flagship smartphone Huawei P20 Pro with triple camera and now Apple is also planning to join the same bandwagon.

Would you want a third camera on an iPhone? The smartphone borrowed a couple of design cues from the iPhone X like its notch and placing the cameras vertically on the back. One out of the three iPhone models this year may come with LCD display - which will be a mid-range phone, while the other two are said to come with OLED display - which will be comparatively expensive. Nothing else has been mentioned in the report and information about the other iPhone models are scarce at the moment. Apple is expected to launch the 2018 iPhone sometime around the month of September.
