"You knew it was going to be that type of series", Laviolette said Monday night.

It was bound to happen sooner or later, but in game five, Kyle Connor officially broke out of his post season slump.

While the two teams from Manitoba and Tennessee are competing on the ice, their respective law firms wanted to do the same off the ice. That's great that somebody says it because that's how we feel and that's how we felt before the game.

Hockey's marquee second-round matchup is going to Seventh Heaven, just not in the manner everyone expected.

The surprise instead is that the Winnipeg Jets melted in the moment, blowing their best chance to put away last year's West champs.

The Jets were disciplined and took only one minor penalty, but their vaunted power play finished the contest zero-for-four.

During the first five games of the series, Rinne wasn't as sharp as usual and was pulled twice, including Game 5 when he gave up six goals on 26 shots on goal.

The most deserving fanbase in North American professional sports will have to wait at least three more days to celebrate a first Western Conference final appearance.

Still, none of that is likely to matter when it comes to deciding Game 7.

"This series has been pretty even, it's been back and forth", said Stastny. "It's probably right that it's going seven".

Nashville Predators left wing Filip Forsberg (9) scores a goal against Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck (37) in the third period in game six of the second round of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs at Bell MTS Centre.

"That's a championship effort tonight", P.K. Subban said.

Rinne said he looked up at the scoreboard to see the replays of Forsberg's goals.

"We're expecting (the Predators') best game of the season but we haven't anxious about the other team all year and we're not going to start worrying about the other team now".

"I haven't because we've been winning, for the most part", he said.

The defensive game plan once again revolves around Crosby, who has three goals and four assists in the series, but the Capitals must account for Guentzel and a few others, with each one of Pittsburgh's lines looking to make an impact.

"You need one person to drag everybody into the fight", Hartnell said. We controlled the game tonight. The hockey world outside of Winnipeg should rejoice because we will be treated to a Game 7 in what has been one of the most memorable series in recent history.

Still, for as strong as Rinne and the Preds played, it was hard - if not impossible - to view the Jets' loss as anything other than an opportunity missed. We're full-on expecting to play our best game of the season (Monday) night. During the last street party, people donated 1,200 kilograms of food and $3,500 in cash, Economic Development Winnipeg said in a statement.

"We want to thank TDS for agreeing to this friendly wager given that Winnipeg has never won the Western Conference or the President's Trophy and missed the playoffs the last two years!"
