McConnell: West Virginia primary 'worked out very well,' attacks on me 'didn't'

The party's advantage has waned among enthusiastic voters as Republican enthusiasm has grown (in March, 36% of Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters said they were very enthusiastic about voting; that's up to 44% in the new poll), but the Democrats still have a double-digit lead among those most excited to vote this fall (53% of those who are very enthusiastic about voting say they'd back the Democrat in their district vs. 41% who say they favor the GOP candidate).

The sources added this will extend beyond just fundraising and will likely include Trump Jr. headlining events for candidates.

Trump was certain to hail the return of three Americans who had been held captive in North Korea. "Since then, the only place that didn't work out well was Alabama", McConnell said referring to the recent Democratic victory in that conservative state after Republicans picked Judge Roy Moore in the primary. The GOP commands majorities in the state Senate and House of Delegates, and it controls five of six offices of the executive branch.

But hypocrisy trails those who fashion their political careers after the President. That theme played out again during this year's primary campaign, when Manchin used the phrase "Washington sucks" in advertising and again in his nomination statement. Before his 2012 election, the senator represented a House district that included Elkhart. The state also voted for Trump in 2016 by 15 points.

In a possible sign of party unrest, however, Rep. Robert Pittenger lost in North Carolina to the Rev. Mark Harris, a Baptist pastor he narrowly beat two years ago.

About two-thirds of voters (64%) say they consider Trump to be extremely or very important to their vote for Congress this year. Trump skipped the White House Correspondents' Dinner late last month to rally supporters in Macomb County, Michigan. "But the way it was said, it was taken in a connotation that might not have been flattering to a person who's a proud American, no matter what their descent is". And last Saturday, Trump was in OH, long the key electoral piece for any GOP presidential hopeful.

Hopelessly behind in West Virginia, Blankenship conceded defeat in the contest to determine Democratic Sen.

Brown also says the primary results demonstrate a strong showing for Democrats int he governor's race.

"We certainly are going to be competitive, yeah", McConnell said. "He'll deliver the negative messages, they can deliver the positive".

Don Blankenship couldn't overcome opposition from President Donald Trump and pressures from within his own party to capture the Republican U.S. Senate primary in West Virginia.

No matter Tuesday's victor, Trump's team was keeping pressure on Manchin. He'll face Republican Jim Renacci in the general election.

"West Virginia deserves better than Joe Manchin and Sen".

Nachama Soloveichik, a spokeswoman for Morrisey, confirmed on Thursday the Senate candidate and Trump Jr. spoke shortly after the race was called and both expressed an interest in having Trump's son involved in the race.

"I'm off of probation at midnight", Blankenship, who was serving out a sentence for the UBB-related misdemeanor.

In Indiana, Democratic Sen.

Don Blankenship was a West Virginia Senate candidate running a pretty ridiculous platform that went viral in the past couple weeks.

"Some people in Washington care more about dividing us and playing politics than getting to work and solving these problems", he said.
