Cahill suggested Chelsea were focused on next weekend's FA Cup final against Manchester United, but would be irritated if any members of the team had taken the clash at St James' Park lightly.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy reveals why Burnley coach Sean Dyche should replace Chelsea manager Antonio Conte in the summer.

Dwight Gayle scored the opening goal in the first half and Spanish striker Ayoze Perez added the second and third after the break. Dyche's reputation has grown this season having led Burnley to seventh in the Premier League, earning them a spot in next year's Europa League.

"I'd certainly like to think people gave their all today, and to not do so would be extremely disappointing", Cahill was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"Rafa, as always, has my full support, and contrary to some media reports that portray me as a pantomime villain, I will continue to ensure that every penny generated by the club is available to him". It has sort of become a lose-all situation for them as they could miss out on both, a top manager and their top player. Prior to the Huddersfield game [a 1-1 draw in midweek] we were in good form but that's not an excuse.

"I absolutely doubt if Conte is going to be there next season", he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

"They made me some offers to stay here for a few more years, plus I have to manage my family. If we think we can play a game like this in the final of the FA Cup then we don't have a chance", Conte told reporters as he looked ahead to Saturday's Wembley showdown.

"Newcastle started very well and we were sloppy". This season, until he left, he helped me a lot. I am the coach of this team and after a game like this, I am the first to answer for this bad game.
