It has also been reported that former Real Madrid and Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is on West Ham's radar should they be unable to agree a deal with Moyes.

The Hammers secured their top-flight status with a 2-0 victory at Leicester City, then followed this up with a spirited draw with Manchester United in the capital.

West Ham skipper Noble would like to see Moyes stay but - if he is to leave - then the 31-year-old believes the Scot can walk away proud of the job done in hard circumstances.

"There was a lot of holding and grabbing and it was a physical game, but this is the Premier League and we competed well with a good team in Manchester United".

Despite West Ham's attempts to generate an atmosphere at the London Stadium for this fixture - by adding huge concourse motifs of their former captains and record breakers - there were a large number of empty seats.

The Red Devils secured second place in the league with a point, but it was a far-from-impressive display ahead of next week's FA Cup final. And having escaped the threat of relegation, they can afford to breathe easier as they head into Sunday's match against Everton.

"It's a big achievement for us", insisted West Ham manager David Moyes of keeping his side in the top flight.

Mourinho reacted to Friday's 1-0 defeat at Brighton by making eight changes, introducing a back three and utilising fit-again Alexis Sanchez as his main striker.

Marko Arnautovic's goals have kept Moyes's men up and the Austrian muscled his way into a good shooting position on six minutes but placed his shot too close to David de Gea.

"I have played 36 games and if I play the next game it will be 37".

The Frenchman had initially been chopped down by West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate which went unpunished by referee Jon Moss, with Pogba taking out his frustrations by deliberately tripping Noble.
