When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot, they will not only be husband and wife-but they will now officially be Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry and Meghan's consent letter reads: "My Lords, I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council".

The written approvals are part of the Royal Marriages Act of 1772, which legally requires all of King George II's direct descendants to receive the monarch's consent in marriage or the union is considered to be invalid. The inclusion on Meghan and Harry's document really underlines the major role the organisation will have for them in their married life. On one side is the Welsh dragon supporting the UK's floral emblems - the rose, the thistle and the shamrock. "It also features Prince Harry's Label, including three tiny red escallops from the Spencer family Arms". To either side of the rose are two golden poppies - this being the state flower of California, where Ms. Markle was born. Genealogist Charles Kidd told The Daily Mail that the Duke of Sussex title would be given to Prince Harry, which would mean the title of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex, meaning Meghan would become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.

But it is the role of the Commonwealth that really strikes a note in this Instrument of Consent. "Vellum is used only for important State documents".

Meghan, 36, and Harry, 33, have invited 600 guests to the ceremony even though the chapel can seat approximately 800 people.
