Wayne Rooney set to join MLS club DC United

The above reports have suggested that DC United have offered Rooney a deal that would take him up until the end of the 2020 season, to participate in the same league as former Man United teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic and fellow former England worldwide Ashley Cole.

Now with the Everton Football Club, Rooney's deal is reportedly worth approximately $17 million and his contract would be offered until the end of 2020.

The return to Everton at the beginning of this season following a respectful if somewhat awkward phasing out at United under Jose Mourinho was supposed to mark a rejuvenation of sorts, a chance for Rooney to end his career on a high note at his boyhood club. DC United checked out bringing Robin Van Persie Stateside in January and have remained within the hunt for a marquee striker with world pull.

That potential move is complicated by Rooney building a new £20million mansion in the Cheshire countryside for his young family with wife Coleen.

Rooney rebuffed overtures from the USA capital club previous year, according to the report, but United struggled in front of goal last season and has had similar woes this season. Allardyce can't assure the previous England captain video games.

Rooney has 11 total scores in 40 appearances for Everton.

"Well, most definitely, whether he plays up front or midfield, it's going to be great playing with anyone who has his qualities", Mattocks said.

Because he still has a contract at Everton, a transfer fee would need to be paid unless his contract is terminated.

Representations from China have additionally been made however clearly any deal involving a significant relocation would want to make monetary sense for Rooney.
