Beilein staying at MI

Van Gundy had been the head coach and team president for four years.

University of Michigan Head Basketball Coach John Beilein says he'll be returning to coach in Ann Arbor next season. Back in May, Beilein told the Detroit Free Press that it was close to getting done.

Beilein was reported to be one of three finalists for the Detroit Pistons job.

Next season will be Beilein's 12th at MI. And according to outlets, Beilein interviewed with the team earlier this week. On Wednesday morning, Beilein took to Twitter and said he loves the University of MI. "Beilein had talked separately with Gores and Detroit management in process, league sources said". U-M has not released any information about a potential extension, though it's clear athletic director Warde Manuel is working on one. The Wolverines have made the title game twice under Beilein: this year, and in 2013 against Louisville.

Casey is owed $6.5 million for the final year of his contract in Toronto, where he was sacked after a franchise-record 59-win regular season and a second-round playoff sweep to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Beilein has won a pair of Big Ten championships and two Big Ten Tournament titles.
