Lakers Receiving Pressure To Trade For Kawhi Leonard Because of LeBron

James has until Friday to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Cavaliers, but with George seriously considering a return to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Lakers may have a tough time convincing James he could contend in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Lakers are desperate to land Paul George in free agency-and one fan is particularly desperate. A Southern California native, Leonard reportedly wants to defect to the Lakers, but that team has a hard choice to make in terms of how many assets to offer the Spurs in a trade, as opposed to possibly being able to wait a year and sign him in free agency.

ESPN has an update (of sorts) on the pursuits of LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard.

Paul George will give fans an inside look at his offseason and looming free agency with a three-part series on SportsCenter, ESPN announced on Monday.

So far, trade discussions between the Celtics and Spurs regarding Kawhi Leonard have not been all that productive. So with the recent rumor surrounding Philadelphia being one of the teams that has already made an offer to San Antonio, here are three questions to consider surrounding the latest trade report involving Leonard. If other teams want Leonard, then they, too, have to race the Lakers for him.

"LeBron has more than earned the right to approach his contracts the way he does", Altman said.

Leonard, who can become an unrestricted free agent next summer, missed all but nine games last season due to a quad injury.

My favorite part in this soap opera is that Gregg Popovich is doing everything he can to stiff-arm the Lakers.

The Spurs do not have to rush to make a deal, as they could potentially wait until the trade deadline to finally pull the trigger. Boston's ability to offer San Antonio future draft picks and promising young players, along with their location in the East, might make the Celtics the Spurs' ideal trade partner. Free agency is days away, and reports suggest James wants to make his free agency decision quickly.
