The NBA draft is a week away with teams scheduled workouts with the top prospects and draft preparations entering its final stages.

Here are the latest news and rumors about the 2018 National Basketball Association draft.

Porter could potentially rise even higher than that if workouts go well.

The Mavericks, like most of the other lottery teams, have a small army that includes medical staff and Michael Finley going to the Chicago workout Friday afternoon that Bartelstein has set up for teams to get a close-up look at Porter and, ostensibly, to relieve any fears of back problems that could linger from his surgery past year. Even if he's received a promise from someone near the top of the draft, Porter will want to make it clear to the entire National Basketball Association that his health will not be an issue.

Porter missed virtually all of his freshman season at Missouri. One team that's reportedly showing some serious interest in him is the Kings, who pick all the way up at No. 2.

Porter ceased all basketball activity after the season, focusing his efforts on rehab, sources told ESPN, after losing strength in his left leg in particular because of the injury.

Michael Porter Jr. has released his medical records to some teams and held his workout. Representatives of multiple teams that reviewed the information with their medical staffs say those results are encouraging.

League sources say that National Basketball Association doctors appear optimistic about his long-term prognosis, and teams will weigh his talent against the inherent risks. Mo Bamba looks like the second-coming of Joel Embiid.
