The actor was taken to hospital after he was hit by a vehicle on the Italian island but is expected to make a full recovery. It shows Clooney's scooter hitting the vehicle, as well as the actor flying into the air and hitting the ground.

An official at Sassari town hall confirmed to the BBC that Clooney had been involved in a "minor accident" but had no serious injuries. The video shows what is reported as Clooney's scooter crashing into the vehicle while another scooter alongside him manages to veer around it.

George Clooney was riding a motorbike and slammed into a auto.

"He is recovering at his home and will be fine".

A spokesman for the actor told the Press Association: "George Clooney was treated and released from an Olbia hospital". He fell. The vehicle driver called an ambulance. The American is on location in Sardinia to film a new mini-series Catch-22.

He has been staying at a lush, gated rental villa in the high-end Puntaldia neighbourhood on Sardinia's northeastern coast, which overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The Clooney family, including Amal Clooney, and the couple's 1-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, have relocated to Italy for the filming.

Clooney's wife, human rights attorney Amal Clooney, rushed to his side after the incident.
