Drake dodged the topic when it first emerged, but he addresses it numerous times throughout his album. "You are hiding a child, let that boy come home/ Deadbeat m********** playin' border patrol, ooh", the rapper from Virginia spits. When Drake instead released a song, I was upset. Production credits range from some of Drake's most trusted beat smiths like Noah "40" Shebib to hip-hop legends like DJ Premier and No I.D.

Drake's representative responded earlier this year, saying: "This woman has a very questionable background".

Almost a decade after his death, Michael Jackson is out with new music in a guest appearance on the keenly awaited new album by Drake. Drake's reply? It appears roughly 10 minutes into "Scorpion" and kind of out of nowhere: "I wasn't hiding my kid from the world", he explains over a Mobius-stripped Mariah Carey sample.

Drake also raps about not seeing his child: "I got a empty crib in my empty crib".

"There was apprehension when we got together [because] you want to know people and you want to like them", he said.

But when did this happen and who is the child's mother?

Drake, in a rare interview a year ago, described Jackson as a longtime model and voiced dismay at being pigeon-holed as a rapper.

"Breakin" news in my life I don't run to the blogs/ The only ones I wanna tell are the ones I can call, ' added the rapper. Static Major and Ty Dolla $ign are both on "After Dark".

Drake also makes a brief reference to his kid on "8 Out Of Ten": "It's not a matter of could I or should I / Kiss my son on the forehead then kiss your ass goodbye". The only moments he sounds truly engaged with the music on "Scorpion" is when he's playing mockingbird - channeling 21 Savage's sour grumbles on "Nonstop" or pantomiming Young Thug's staccato chirp on "Mob Ties". "Sandra's Rose", named after Drake's mother, finds him bragging, "Every title doin' numbers like I'm Miss Adele". Rap officially surpassed rock in 2017 as the biggest music genre in the United States.
