Shehbaz has been named as the prime minister-designate if his party wins the July 25 general election.

Nobody was injured in the attack, which marked the second one against Durrani in eight days. Both institutions deny the charge.

There shall be no corner meetings and election campaign rallies after 12:00am, the electoral commission said in the notification.

A Pakistani election candidate was killed in a suicide blast in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, the Dawn reported, quoting the police.

Ikramullah Gandapur, a member of Mr Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, was contesting polls for the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provincial assembly when he was killed by a auto bomb.

However, 400 foreign observers from different countries will also monitor Pakistan Election 2018.

The ECP secretary said the time for polling will start from 8am and last until 6pm, adding that results could not be announced before 7pm.

The counting will be done on the spot and results will be announced within 24 hours after the polling.

Pakistani cricketer turned politician Imran Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Movement for Justice), speaks to supporters.

The nation has been on edge over Wednesday's elections that will decide Pakistan's new prime minister after a string of similar suicide bombings this month against political candidates.

Meanwhile, Akram Khan Durrani, former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and a key leader of five-party religious alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, escaped an assassination attempt in Bannu district on Sunday.

Political analyst Dr Syed Farooq Hasnat said that this year's elections are going to be one of the most interesting ones in the country's history. "Either it is Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf or Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, there is many a slip between the cup and the lip", he told PTI. "A strong government is necessary for better economy".
