Sixers' bench takes major hit at start of free agency

While there was a ton of speculation about George heading home to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, Magic Johnson and company dodged a bullet by not bringing PG to LA.

After a slow start to the season, the Thunder heated up around the midway point of the 2017-18 campaign, but fell in the first round of the playoffs to the Utah Jazz.

But details soon emerged about George's new deal with the 28-year-old reportedly agreeing to a four-year deal, with a player option in the third year, for $137m.

Nothing is official as the teams and players can not formally sign contracts until Friday, July 6.

Case in point was George's last game, in which Westbrook scored 46 points and George finished with just five points on two-of-16 shooting.

What was also surprising about this process is that George didn't even meet with the Lakers before making his decision.

Expectations Paul George would test free agency have come to fruition. "It's over for that!"

"I want to be a champion", George said, as transcribed by The Oklahoman. The Pacers instead traded him to the Thunder for a package that included Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis. But George lauded Westbrook, calling him one of the best teammates he'd had. But, I think there is a sense right now that the original plan is not in play right now. Either way, this has made the 2018 free agency period a little more interesting. Now he has left the Clippers after 10 seasons to join Dallas.

He added that "OKC officials, George and his agent are meeting tonight", referring to Saturday night. After leading IN to consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances, George suffered a gruesome leg injury while playing for Team USA IN the 2014 offseason. Bradley had season-ending surgery to fix abdominal muscles.
