How the world is remembering Aretha Franklin

Fox News has apologized after coming under fire for using an image of singer Patti LaBelle instead of the late Aretha Franklin in its tribute package on Thursday. She worked for me on numerous occasions. She offered to post bail for Angela Davis in 1979, saying, "I'm going to see her free if there is any justice in our courts, not because I believe in communism, but because she's a Black woman and she wants freedom for Black people". However, there was one instance that stands above the rest: a sit down with The Wall Street Journal during the press tour for her album Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics.

Franklin's death was confirmed by her long-time publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn, on behalf of her family, who said she died "surrounded by family and loved ones".

Ariana wasn't the only singer paying tribute to the Queen of Soul.

"I'm sitting in prayer for the wonderful golden spirit Aretha Franklin", said Motown legend Diana Ross, while former Beatle Paul McCartney called her "the Queen of our souls". However, just hours after her passing, reports started to surface that Franklin's partner of thirty years and her sons are already at war over her $80 million fortune. But truly appreciating Aretha takes one to the deep emotional level of her blues, as in "Good to Me as I Am to You" (on which she's backed by Eric Clapton), "Dr. Feelgood", and "Drown in My Own Tears". She would sing in church. That is the way her voice, her music, and her meaning gave meaning to my life, providing even in the most parched and deadening moments the narrative of rhythm, syncopation, movement, and song that helped me make sense of what was happening to me and celebrate my detachment from it.

"I had the biggest crush in the world on him the whole time, like forever", she said. She was given a great gift from God - her voice, and she used it well.

"When she made a decision to die she came to the city of Detroit ... downtown and that was her choice", Holley said.

Wonder, speaking today on CBS This Morning, said he visited Franklin at her home two days before she passed. She was a civil rights and feminist icon, and she changed American popular vocal style.

However, an insider close to Wilkerson says that he thinks it is only fair that he gets a portion of Franklin's estate.
