Paul Pogba added fuel to rumours of his deteriorating relationship with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, saying he could not express himself for fear of being fined.

Edwin Van der Sar is still a much-beloved figure amongst United fans and The Mail reports that he is one of Woodward's favoured choices to take up the position.

Last week, Manchester United rejected a derisory cash-plus-players offer of £45m plus Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina for the French midfielder.

"That's my plan, although everything is up in the air until the window closes".

Mourinho, who has not been happy with how his side's preseason transpired, managed to bring in only three new faces in the latest English window, which closed on 9 August.

The midfielder, 25, won the World Cup with France in the summer and scored in United's 2-1 win over Leicester in Friday's Premier League opener. "We play against a team that invest more than us".

But according to Barca director director Ariedo Braida, the defending La Liga champions are unlikely to make an offer for the recent World Cup victor.

Wes Brown expects Paul Pogba to "get his head down and play" despite suggestions the Frenchman is unhappy at Manchester United. "There are things I can not say otherwise I will get fined." he said via BBC.

A player that gets chosen and is happy, you always feel more comfortable than when he's not happy.

'I've read this week about Pogba wanting to leave before the European transfer deadline at the end of the month and in truth that wouldn't surprise me, ' Shearer said in his column for The Sun.

"I would love to see Mourinho enjoy real success at United, but it's hard to see that happening if he continues to have a pop at his players in public and he has looked miserable every time he has been stood before a television camera this summer". "And wearing this, it's even more because of the past, because of the players that played here, the people that have been wearing this".

"I am the same, but it's a different team, obviously", said Pogba.
