Aguero marks new deal with goal as City thrashes Cardiff

Neil Warnock admits Manchester City's quality shone through as his Cardiff side were beaten 5-0 by the Premier League champions.

Cardiff held their own for half an hour on a rain-soaked pitch, before goals from Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan put the visitors 3-0 up at half-time.

The tale goes that there are no easy games in the Premier League, even when the favourites for the Champions League visit the favourites for the Championship.

The Bluebirds boss was pleased by their start to the second half, but a brace from substitute Riyad Mahrez - the second of which was gifted to him by Cardiff defender Bruno Ecuele Manga - left Warnock frustrated.

"It was always going to be tough", Warnock told Sky Sports. Our live coverage lets you follow all the key moments as they happen.

United, though, are now eight points off the top as a run of three straight wins to avert an early season crisis came to an end against an impressive Wolves while Ferguson watched on for the first time since undergoing emergency surgery on a brain haemorrhage in May.

"I'm very happy because they have treated my very well since the first day I got here", said Aguero.

"That quality just shone though".

"I thought second half, despite the injury, we did alright".

Mahrez came off the bench to score two well-taken goals, effectively sealing the three points for Guardiola's men.

"We must keep our heads up".

"We have a good team, we need to be focused and if we are at 100%, we have lots of chances to do great things".

After being caught up Germany's torrid World Cup campaign, Gundogan has played himself back into form and his intelligent movement and exquisite touch were too much for Cardiff to handle, not to mention his superb goal.
