Unai Emery, the Arsenal head coach, intends to keep playing Aaron Ramsey despite a club decision to withdraw a contract offer that will nearly certainly lead to the midfielder's departure next year.

Watford created a few good chances in the second half, but a few good saves from Bernd Leno and resolute defending from the home side helped Arsenal to keep the game on an even keel going into the final ten minutes.

Their seventh successive win came courtesy of Craig Cathcart's 81st-minute own goal and a strike soon afterwards from Mesut Ozil, and after Isaac Success had squandered a fine chance to give the visitors the lead.

Two Serie A giants, Juventus and AC Milan are both interested in Aaron Ramsey's ongoing contract saga with Arsenal.

Contract talks between Arsenal and midfielder Aaron Ramsey have collapsed, a source has told ESPN FC, raising the prospect of the Wales global leaving on a free transfer next summer.

He went on to keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win for the Gunners and was satisfied with his league introduction under hard circumstances.

Asked by Sky Sports whether Cech's injury was serious, Emery replied: "I think no, but usually we will find out more tomorrow [Sunday]".

Emery handed him the number ten role, but Ramsey was hauled off on 63 minutes for Alex Iwobi after an uninspiring display.

"And today he did that", Emery said. Leno can learn by staying near with Petr Cech every day.

"I'm a little bit disappointed because I think we have done a great performance and I think we deserve more than this result", Gracia told the BBC.
