The new MacBook Air brings several new features on the iconic low-powered notebook. Mercifully, you'll still be able to find a headphone jack on this laptop as well. They were ultimately left out despite lots of rumours and supposed leaks, but it did set up the stage for today's showpiece, Apple's fourth major launch event for the year.

The new MacBook Air comes with a sharper Retina display than the more traditional and lower resolution display on the current MacBook Air. The new Apple MacBook will be available starting November 7.

Apple is now producing its MacBook Airs from 100 percent recycled aluminum, making it the greenest Mac ever.

Apple MacBook Air 2 feature Intel's latest 8th gen dual-core CPU, up to 16GB memory and up to 1.5TB SSD storage capacity, a 60 per cent boost compared to the previous iteration. And as far as battery life is concerned, the new MacBook Air offers up to 12 hours of wireless web browsing.

MacBook Air also comes with a new trackpad that supports force touches.

Apple fans and power users are the target audience for the MacBook Air, though it has several features that may interest business professionals as well. Apple says that the new MacBook Air can run a 5K display and supports eGPU as well. The sensor is embedded in the keyboard and comes paired with Apple's T2 security chip.

The first thing you'll notice is that the Air has gotten even smaller again, but still has a 13.3-inch display.

In a way, the new MacBook Air sounds like the flawless laptop ever created.

The MacBook Air hasn't seen a refresh for a while, and while some might have anxious Apple was going to discontinue the range Tim Cook has just (rather enthusiastically) announced that there's a new one on the way. And that price isn't an unreasonable proposition, either, since the 11-inch MacBook Air sold for that much before its axing. It includes an image signal processor that enables enhanced tone mapping, exposure control and white balancing to the FaceTime HD camera. MacBook batteries tend to perform very well, but we'll still need to get our hands on it to properly test that statement out for ourselves. This base configuration starts at $1,199, which makes this model the cheapest, until you start adding more to the configuration. Featuring a significantly smaller footprint, the new MacBook Air takes up 17 per cent less volume, is 10 per cent thinner measuring just.61 inches at its thickest point, and at just 2.75 pounds is a quarter pound lighter than the previous generation.
