That's when the commotion began as Maurizio Sarri's second assistant second assistant coach Marco Ianni celebrated in front of Mourinho, which sparked a heated bust-up on the sidelines.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri brought Barkley on for Kovacic in the 69th minute and the former Everton man did not disappoint, scoring the Blues' equaliser deep into injury time.

"I have made a lot of mistakes in my career", he told Sky Sports after the game.

"History says that when Eden Hazard is the best player of the Premier League, Chelsea is the champion".

Whether he enjoys it or not, Mourinho is the guy who is always portrayed as the villain of the piece, but there was so much more to this game than the incident with Ianni and his reaction to the fans who once idolised him. I spoke with my staff, and then [Ianni] agreed to speak to Mourinho and say sorry. "And after that, his assistant comes to me in Sarri's office and apologizes to me".

"Of course I want to speak to him again because I want to make sure he's able to understand it was a big mistake", he said.

Chelsea had taken a first-half lead thanks to an Antonio Rudiger header, but Manchester United managed to turn it around in the second half thanks to an Anthony Martial brace.

After the final whistle Mourinho gestured towards the Chelsea fans with three fingers, in reference to the three Premier League titles he won at Stamford Bridge. We have to realise we had unbelievable spirit to try and score the second goal and we did that in the end. If I knew I would have been able to immediately change the situation. "Now the situation is between me and the staff face to face".

"If I speak to a member of staff and am very hard (with Ianni) I can not come here and tell everything because then I am not credible with the staff".

"We controlled that very, very well. I want to play with short passes, stop".

"Even though we were 2-1 down, we kept trying to score the equaliser and we did that in the end so I think the spirit was wonderful", he added.

Martial was substituted for Andreias Pereira in the 84th minute, and Mourinho embraced his forward as he came off. "However, ultimately, I am disappointed". 'However, we worked hard and this sort of match enabled us to show that we are a good team.
