Jose Mourinho responds to Real Madrid speculation

Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that Real Madrid's on-pitch "crisis" is not his business.

"I'm happy here. I'm happy to see out my contract", said Mourinho, whose current deal is to the end of June 2020, with the option to extend it for a further season. We can't be crying for someone who didn't want to be here, "he responded, per the Evening Standard".

Isco offered his backing to Lopetegui and swatted aside questions about how the team were seemingly failing to cope following Ronaldo's exit. I miss [Gareth] Bale and [Dani] Carvajal when they are not with us. "We have to find the solution inside".

"We are playing against one of the biggest clubs in the world, one of the candidates for the competition and that is what motivates me and brings me here".

Among the questions to get under Mourinho's skin was one about the Real Madrid job as doubts grow over manager Julen Lopetegui's future with the European champions.

"I'm absolutely fine with them", the five-time Ballon d'Or victor told reporters. "I only think about Manchester United", he assured, adding that the past two games had shown United's form. I won trophies here - cups, leagues, Champions League. You have to let him work.

Defender Dani Carvajal remains the only absentee as struggling Real Madrid aim for their first win in six games when they take on Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League on Tuesday. "We know the situation is not the best, but also that we have time to turn things around".

"I don't know what will happen in a month or in a year".

The five-time Ballon d'Or victor made his name in Manchester, but showed no mercy on his last visit when he and Mourinho teamed up to dump United out of the Champions League in 2013.

Former Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane's policy was for players to spend the night before games at Madrid's training ground residences.
