Khashoggi in Off-Air Recording: Arrested People in Saudi Not Even Dissidents!

Khashoggi's disappearance could put pressure on the Saudi crown prince, who has promoted an image of himself as a reformer and a reliable Western ally.

He said they were made in NY, but gave no details about who was involved.

Turkish officials claim Khashoggi was killed inside the building, but Saudi Arabia denies the allegations.

Jamal Khashoggi went there to get paperwork so he could marry his Turkish fiancée, and he hasn't been seen or heard from since October 2.

Trump declined to say whom he talked with in the Saudi government.

The statement came out after reports published on Saturday night by various worldwide media, citing Turkish officials, alleged that Khashoggi was killed at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul. Turkish police said he never left the building.

Flight records reportedly show that a Gulf Stream IV private jet, tail number HZ-SK2, landed in Istanbul at 3am on October 2, the day Mr Khashoggi disappeared.

As a contributor to the Post, Khashoggi has written extensively about Saudi Arabia, including criticising its war in Yemen, its recent diplomatic spat with Canada and its arrest of women's rights activists after the lifting of a ban on women driving.

"What was explained to us is this: "He was killed, make your funeral preparations", Kislakci said. He'd been living in the United States in self-imposed exile.

The US has intercepts of Saudi officials discussing a plan to lure journalist Jamal Khashoggi back to Saudi Arabia and detain him, according to a US official familiar with the intelligence.

"Deeply troubled to hear reports about Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi".

He said it comes as no surprise that Riyad is looking to quash criticism, but this case is beyond the sad but true usual jailing of journalists.

Mr Erdogan was quoted by Turkish media on Thursday as telling journalists - flying with him back home from a visit to Hungary - that "we can not remain silent to such an incident".

Speaking from Ankara the same day, Erdogan said, "As president, I am pursuing".

Khashoggi hadn't lived in Saudi Arabia since he moved to the United States a year ago. "I mean, you're affecting us and, you know, they're always quick to jump that way".

Turkey's state news agency, quoting unnamed sources, said Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Ankara, Waleed A Elkhereiji, was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Sunday.

His disappearance has sparked global concerns, particularly after Turkish sources said over the weekend that authorities believed he had been killed inside the consulate.

What's interesting is that shortly after the perplexing image of Saudi King Salman, U.S. President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi placing their hands on a glowing orb at a summit in Riyadh was taken, Riyadh went on a purge of its ruling class and detained several incumbent and former government ministers, prominent businessmen and at least 11 princes. Relations were already strained after Turkey sent troops to the Gulf state of Qatar a year ago in a show of support after its Gulf neighbors, including Saudi Arabia, imposed an embargo on Doha.
