Rapper Cardi B arrested in connection with NY strip club fight

The "Taki Taki" rapper turned herself in to police in NY on Monday for a strip club fight that left two bartenders badly beaten.

The NYPD confirmed to ET on Monday morning that Cardi - whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar- was expected to turn herself in to the police as part of an investigation into an assault complaint that stemmed from an incident that occurred on August 29th at around 3 a.m. The New York Police Department tells CBS News that she faces charges of of reckless endangerment and assault.

UPDATE 10/01/18 1:00PM EST: Cardi B reportedly turned herself into the NYPD around 10:00am EST.

Cardi B, born Belcalis Almánzar, was allegedly involved in an incident at the Angels NYC strip club in the borough of Queens, according to police spokesman Martin Brown, who said the investigation was continuing.

It was reported the melee may have been the result of a romantic dispute over Cardi B's husband, Offset. Her lawyer Jeff Kern, however, did have some words to share outside the police precinct in Queens.

Cardi, who was at the club because Offset was performing as part of hip hop trio Migos, allegedly told her group to attack the bartenders with bottles, chairs and a hookah smoking device, TMZ reported. "But it doesn't matter if her name is Cardi B or Carl B. if she commits violent assaults she will be brought to justice".

Cardi B smiled as she left the police station but did not comment. According to CNN, she's due in court October 29.

The "Bodak Yellow" and "I Like It" songstress gave birth to a daughter, Kulture, in July.

Cardi B has become one of the biggest new stars in U.S. music since the runaway success previous year of her song "Bodak Yellow", which touches on her former life making ends meet as a stripper.
