The Google-owned video streaming service has acknowledged the issue. As of 10.35PM ET, the account is still replying to reports of the Youtube outage saying that the team is working on the problem.

The service was back up as of 11 a.m. HK/SIN time, although YouTube did not explain what caused the outage. "If you continue to experience issues, please let us know".

The world's second most used search engine, YouTube, was down for a portion of users Tuesday evening. But as the company has said, it is working on restoring the services back again, which has become a necessity in the lives of many.

According to user reports and outage-monitoring sites, the YouTube outages began sometime around 9pm on the east coast of the U.S. and 11am in Sydney. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated", Team YouTube posted.

In related news, last month, Google announced that it's merging the gaming-centric features of YouTube Gaming to YouTube's primary website. Similar to the website, the YouTube app showed blank areas on the homescreen, while navigating to the "trending", "subscriptions" and "library" tabs returned error messages.
