Tampa Bay rallies held to protect Robert Mueller's Russian Federation probe

'We have confidence in the Mueller investigation.

But that was not the view of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who on Wednesday warned House Democrats that any investigations of the president by their new majority in the ensuing two years "might not be smart strategy".

Follayattar said the Portland protest exceeded her expectations. I was expecting 60, maybe 80 people.

An ever-more exasperated Trump ordered him to give up the mic and Acosta refused, with Trump branding him an "enemy of the people" and a "rude, bad person".

Protesters gathered in Federal Plaza in downtown Chicago Thursday evening before marching to a rally outside Trump Tower. Augusta protesters challenged the legality of Whitaker's appointment by Trump.

"Trump wants to shut down the Mueller investigation and we'll never know the facts", said Kristy Lynch, a stay-at-home mom from Maplewood, N.J., who marched with her 3-year-old twins and 8-year-old daughter. Protestors anxious Whitaker would use his new position to stifle the investigation before its conclusion.

Several contenders are reportedly under consideration to replace Sessions, such as Mr. Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. But, she said, she's concerned that Sessions' departure may be a sign that Mueller's investigation will be blocked.

The crowd in Portland was clearly angry with Trump. "This is a moment for all of us to come together and preserve the rule of law in the U.S".

That's raising questions about the fate of Mueller's investigation.

Donald Trump has installed a crony to oversee the special counsel's Trump-Russia investigation, crossing a red line set to protect the investigation. Those close to him have also said he would not approve any request to subpoena the president.

Protesters said they fear what will happen to Mueller's probe into Russian actions before the 2016 election, which also is looking into whether any of Trump's associates were involved with Russian efforts and whether Trump himself impeded these investigations.

Even after he arrived at the Justice Department, Whitaker harbored frustration about the length of the special counsel probe and doubts about the scope of Mueller's authority, a person familiar with the matter said.

While Whitaker is now Mueller's ultimate supervisor, it was not immediately clear whether that meant Rosenstein would step aside.

"The forced firing of Attorney General Sessions appears to be part of an ongoing pattern of behavior by the president seeking to undermine (the) investigation into Russian interference", said the letter to Goodlatte, written by Representative Jerrold Nadler, the committee's top Democrat, and 16 other Democrats who sit on the panel.

Joy Robinson said the Rock Hill's protest was put together in less than a day.

"I'm confident the White House is looking for someone who the president and country can have confidence in, and be confirmed by the Senate", Graham said in a statement. "We have to get rid of Trump".
