Acosta questioned Trump calling the migrants march an invasion and Trump defended the term.

DONALD TRUMP: Here we go.

ACOSTA: Mr. President, are you anxious about indictments coming down in this investigation? "You know they have to come in Jim through a process".

Mr. Trump then became angry with CNN reporter Jim Acosta when he wanted to continue questioning the president about the caravans making their way north through Mexico, and Mr. Trump wanted to end the questioning. And all you're going to do is end up in back and forth and back and forth.

"To say that as you said that to me is so insulting".

"Why did you characterize it as such?" Acosta attempted to ask another question, which further enraged the president.

"God plays a very big role in my life", Trump said.

"Do you think that you demonized immigrants in this election to try to keep -?" "Not at all", Trump replied.

She also noted that the fact that CNN is proud of Acosta is "disgusting".

TRUMP: Thank you for telling me that. They're hundreds and hundreds of miles away.

"It was not an invasion", Acosta claimed.

"I understand", Garrett said, attempting to ask a question. Finally, Trump lowered the boom.

When Acosta asked Trump about inflating the supposed threat to America from the caravan, he responded, "Honestly, I think you should let me run the country and you run CNN".

At this point, Acosta has had a minute and a half for his "question".

His exchanges with CNN's Jim Acosta and NBC News' Peter Garrett turned bitterly personal, unusual even for a forum where the nature of their jobs often put presidents and the press at odds.

"I can't understand you", he told one woman with an accent, and when African-American White House Correspondent Yamiche Alcindor asked him about his connection to white nationalism, he told her she was being "racist".

Trump wanted to move onto another reporter, but Acosta wouldn't give up the microphone when an aide sought to tug it away from him.

That brought Acosta to his feet again.

The president then returned to attacking Acosta, saying, "Just sit down, please".

"I tell you what", he said, "CNN should be ashamed of themselves having you working for them". "You are are a rude, awful person". "And you shouldn't be working for CNN".
