Vijay Fans Burn and Smash Freebies After Cuts in ‘Sarkar’

He condemned unlawful acts such as damaging the film's banners and demanding the removal of certain scenes from the film. Vijay's AR Murugadoss directorial "Sarkar" is facing the heat and the makers had to remove a scene and also mute another scene in the movie.

Interestingly, actor Vijay, the lead actor of Sarkar, has reportedly sought a meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy (who belongs to AIADMK) at his Chennai residence.

"We have nothing to do with the film or Vijay", Raju said describing the star as a "dear friend".

Meanwhile, the protests against Sarkar continue unabated. He said the party's opposition had nothing to do with criticism of the government.

When asked about AIADMK's opposition to "Sarkar", Mr Palaniswami said the issue has been settled. The article also defended the freebie scheme started by Jayalalithaa.

Rajinikanth had lashed out at the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Friday for its protests against certain scenes in actor Vijay's Diwali release, "Sarkar", questioning the rationale behind protesting against a film certified by the censor board. "I strongly condemn these", he added. Its tweet read, "Police reach director AR Murugadoss residence to arrest him".

Tamil Nadu Law minister CV Shanmugam was quoted by Times Now, "Through this movie, an attempt is made to instigate violence in society".

Vijay's 2017 film "Mersal" too had ran into a controversy after BJP objected to some scenes critical of GST among others.
