Madrid have reportedly agreed to pay 17 million euros up front for Diaz, whose deal at Manchester City was set to expire in June, with a further seven million euros due depending on performance. "I have joined the club which I have dreamed of playing at since I was a child", the 19-year-old said after being officially unveiled at Real's Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

The 18-year-old has been urged to leave the Premier League champions on loan but Guardiola is saying the youngster will not be allowed to leave City on loan this month, stressing that it is "impossible".

The deal includes a 15% sell-on fee, although it is understood that rises to 40% should Real sell the Spain under-21 star to Manchester United.

"I'm arriving at the club I dreamed of playing as a boy".

Subsequently, Brahim will step on the pitch for Santiago Bernabéu for the first time wearing the Real Madrid CF shirt and will attend the media in the press room.

They are clearly wary that Diaz may grow to become a world superstar, and want to do anything possible to prevent him from moving to their city rivals. I will give everything from the first day'.

He made just four appearances for City this season - three in the Carabao Cup and one in the Community Shield - with manager Pep Guardiola preferring to use more senior options in the Premier League and Champions League.

Diaz, who joined Manchester City from Malaga in 2013 aged 14, has signed a six-and-a-half-year contract that runs to the summer of 2025. "He chose it above others and that energy will help (him)", Perez said.
