Ali bested Timothee Chalamet ("Beautiful Boy"), Adam Driver ("BlacKkKlansman"), Richard E. Grant ("Can You Ever Forgive Me?") and Sam Rockwell ("Vice"). The show also managed to largely avoid polarizing politics, which has been blamed for the decline in viewership in recent, similar events.

Last night, Bohemian Rhapsody won multiple Golden Globes, but as the recipients-first Rami Malek and then producer Graham King-went through the usual "thank you's" to people who worked on the film, both noticeably left out the film's original director, Bryan Singer.
