Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan says containing Liverpool's attacking players will be vital if the champions are to come out on top against the league leaders.

Jurgen Klopp's men are now seven points clear of City at the top and remain unbeaten after 20 games, with many believing this will finally be their year to win the Premier League. He pointed to how City had beaten Liverpool 5-0 at the start of last season.

City will, of course, fight tooth and nail but eventually, Liverpool should emerge the victors on Thursday night.

And a quick glance at City's recent matches suggest that's certainly the way to go here.

Here you will find all the latest videos from Manchester City, including, all Premier League goals, highlights, behind-the-scenes footage, training and much more. At this stage in their campaign, the Citizens remained unbeaten and had won 19 of their 20 games.

Jurgen Klopp's men have had some hairy moments along the way, most notably the goalless draw against Manchester City at Anfield when Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty four minutes from time which could have completely shaped the rest of the season.

A win for Liverpool would see them extend their advantage at the top to 10 points, but defender Andrew Robertson warned that City would be pushing Liverpool all the way until May.

Where can I watch live?

Kompany has issued a call to arms to his team mates ahead of the potentially season-defining game and demands his side restore their pride following two uncharacteristic losses in consecutive games over the Christmas period. City's frailties in defence mean that containing the rampaging Reds attack will also be tough.

"I feel Liverpool will maintain their seven-point lead over City in the title-race by picking up a vital point at the Etihad".

"That's why it is a challenge for us next Thursday to try and win there to try and sustain this position as long as possible to arrive at the end of the season fighting for the title".

However, former Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling, who was a star of City's own record-breaking side that finished last season with 100 points and 106 goals, warned that his side are confident of beating the Reds. Liverpool have conceded only eight goals in 20 league games and no opponent has scored a few times against them.

The second leg is a punt on Liverpool getting over 4.5 corners.

Despite all their recent successes, Manchester City just can not seem to beat Liverpool, winning just four of the 16 meetings between the two sides since City won the Premier League in 2012.

But if City can win then it is game on again as Pep Guardiola's side look to make it back-to-back successes.
