United are said to have paid the Mouirnho a sum of KSh 1.9 billion (£15 million) as compensation package after sacking him last month, allowing him to return to management when he sees fit.

Jose Mourinho, who led Inter to the treble in 2010, admits returning to the Nerazzurri would be "a huge honour".

After his last job it seems unlikely that Mourinho would be handed the keys to the Bernabeu straight away but you can never rule anything out when it comes to Jose or Real.

The Special One looks set to take over as Real Madrid boss in the coming months - with United demanding a £10million pay-out.

For now, Santiago Solari seems to have his future up in the air, with Real Madrid in talks with former manager Jose Mourinho.

And it sounds like it could get even better for United should Real re-hire Mourinho, because doing so would trigger a clause in the 55-year-old's previous contract.

Jose Mourinho was only sacked by Manchester United in December but finds himself in the hot seat again - this time as a TV pundit for BeIN SPORTS.

But Los Blancos are struggling domestically and are 10 points adrift of La Liga leaders Barcelona.

Since he left Old Trafford, United have won five straight games in all competitions under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

DEADLINE DAY is fast-approaching as Manchester United continue to be linked with several big names.

"I'm not an option for Benfica right now". "The chapter is finished and you don't go around making criticism", he said.

"But I think I can say today that I have no intention of going back to work in Portugal", he said.

"The other thing I have learned is to respect the clubs who want me and those who don't want me".
