The Toronto Raptors took a huge gamble when they traded for Kawhi Leonard, who had a falling out with the San Antonio Spurs a year ago, but they're confident in their ability to retain the superstar forward.

The crowd booed Leonard mercilessly when he was introduced before the game, after giving a hearty welcome to Danny Green, who was sent from the Spurs to the Raptors in the same offseason trade that included Leonard.

According to Yahoo Sports, fans booed every time the former San Antonio player had the ball in his hands, but one particular person caught mama Leonard's wrath. Fans reportedly went as far as calling Leonard a traitor while he was shooting free throws.

Leonard spent his first seven seasons in San Antonio, a stint that included All-Star selections for the player in 2016 and 2017 and an National Basketball Association championship for the team in 2014.

Leonard's trade became controversial when the 27-year-old was traded for DeMar DeRozan within a year left on his contract after a mysterious quad injury, SB Nation reports. "We all make decisions in our lives with what we're gonna do with our futures, and he has that same right as any of us".

For the Raptors' part, Leonard had a nice enough offensive night, with 21 points on just 13 shots, but the team never really got on enough of a roll to put a run together and get back in the game, going just 6-30 from downtown.

After the highly-anticipated matchup, Popovich and Leonard shared a special moment. "So, I felt badly, honestly".
