Turkey to launch attack against Kurds in Syria

The provocatively timed military drill came as USA secretary of state Mike Pompeo vowed to "expel every last Iranian boot" from Syria in an incendiary speech setting out his vision for the Middle East. "US security units are trying to dissuade their president", he added.

Remember: It was here, here in this city, that another American stood before you.

Commenting on the credibility of the United States, a military analyst and retired Lebanese Army General Amin Hteit told Sputnik that the confusion surrounding the withdrawal of American troops undermines it.

Unquestionably, as Turkey intends to coordinate closely with Washington vis-a-vis Syria amid the planned United States military withdrawal, confusing messages from the White House will continue to unsettle Ankara. "And on that score what they would have heard in the speech today is a lot of empty rhetoric".

American troops sent to help with the pullout are reportedly already in the region, specifically in Kuwait and the al-Asad air base in Iraq.

"We will not ease our campaign to stop Iran's malevolent influence and actions against this region and the world", he said. "But in our hesitation to wield power, we did nothing". He said that Obama, who he did not name, "grossly underestimated the tenacity and viciousness of radical Islamism".

The tour follows the uproar over President Donald Trump's decision to pull USA troops out of Syria and is meant to reassure America's allies that the U.S. is still standing with them, especially in the fight against Iran.

The US would "use diplomacy and work with our partners to expel every last Iranian boot" from Syria and bolster efforts "to bring peace and stability to the long-suffering Syrian people", he said.

That remark caught Feierstein by surprise.

"We are determined on the field and at the table", Cavusoglu said. "Best for the United States to just get over loss of Iran".

For his part, speaking with Pompeo in Amman, Safadi said that reaching a peaceful end to the conflict in Syria should pave the way to end the exclusion of Syria from the Arab regime.

The U.S. withdrawal from Syrian might not be as precipitous as it was originally described by President Trump.

However, Palestinian diplomatic sources have repeatedly said they do not like what Kushner has been indicating, leading the Palestinian Authority (PA) to suspend contacts with Trump's envoy.

Pompeo cited examples such as the US launching missile strikes in response to Assad chemically gassing his own people in 2017 and 2018; the USA withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal; and the reimposition of sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

Still, Parsi said, Obama did not do enough to solidify that 2015 deal and protect it from future attempts to dismantle it.

To be sure, America's foreign policy in the Trumpian era is unprecedented and risky in countless ways, particularly with respect this new dynamic in which Washington's allies are not sure whether America's Commander-in-Chief, Secretary of State, Pentagon chief, or the president's top advisers genuinely speak on behalf of the U.S. government.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitor, said Thursday's deal saw the whole rebel enclave come under HTS administrative control. For example, US intelligence officials believe the Saudi crown prince was involved in the killing of a journalist in the country's consulate in Istanbul. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has stood firmly behind Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whom the CIA and other intelligence agencies concluded was responsible for the grizzly killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi late a year ago.

He commended Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's relationship with the U.S. I saw an early version of it.

He met with U.S. troops stationed there but not with Iraqi leaders, leading to condemnation from Iraqi political and militia leaders.

"We see that the U.S.is having difficulties in its decision to withdraw from Syria".

Hannah of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies read Pompeo's comments differently.

"I am sensitive to Turkey's concerns". Halbusi discussed USA efforts to help Iraq "with reconstruction and investment". The YPG lead the Syrian Democratic Forces, which are partnered with the USA -led anti-ISIS coalition. Half of Yemen's population faces starvation as a result of the war, and members of Congress have pressed the White House to end US support for the Saudis. The FBI has said about 300 Americans have left or tried to leave the U.S.to join ISIS.

Omar began her term this month as one of the first two Muslim women House members.

Iran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, mocked Pompeo's assertion in his speech that "when America retreats, chaos follows", saying the opposite is true. The rest of the country was cleared from ISIS as a result of operations by the Syrian-Iranian-Russian alliance and, in the case of the al-Bab area, by Turkey.

"That does not strike people in the Middle East as a humble and engaging approach".

Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson faced fierce criticism from lawmakers and diplomats for leaving scores of top State Department posts and ambassador positions empty, sinking morale in Foggy Bottom.

Israelis, too, saw the speech as favorable.
