He allegedly asked the woman to fork over as many valuable possessions she could, before settling on her Audi, which was parked outside the home.

She begged him not to kill or harm her, and surrendered auto keys and other possessions in an attempt to appease Jackson.

The intruder, identified as Demonte Alis Jackson, knocked on the front door of Bun B's Houston home at about 5.45pm on Tuesday night.

"She was afraid he was there to cause harm to her husband", Bun B's attorney, Charles Adams, told the Chronicle.

Bun B, who was upstairs in the home at the time, heard the commotion and grabbed his gun and ran down to confront the robber as he was getting into the auto.

Police say the suspect was able to break free from Bun B and ran away, ending up at Pearland Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the left shoulder. Several shots were reportedly fired before Jackson fled on foot, leaving behind his gun.

The Houston Police Department says the suspect will be charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and burglary of a habitation.

Rapper Bun B got into an intense shootout with a burglar who held his wife at gunpoint and almost managed to make off with her luxury vehicle, Fox News has confirmed.

"The homeowner appears to have defended himself", Houston Police Department homicide detective Travis Miller said.

In 1987, Bun B and Pimp C formed the acclaimed southern rap duo Underground Kingz, aka UGK.
