That's all created to make even more people go and see Avengers: Endgame, which, with its box office now at £1.77 billion ($2.3 billion), is already well on its way to eclipsing Avatar's £2.41 billion ($2.788 billion) to make it the highest grossing film of all time. That means it's pipped Titanic's $2.187 billion big screen haul - and James Cameron has congratulated Kevin Feige and co in the traditional baton-passing fashion.

An iceberg sank the real Titanic. "It took the Avengers to sink my Titanic", Cameron tweeted, sharing a photo of the Avengers logo capsizing the historic cruise ship.

'Everybody here at Lightstorm Entertainment salutes your awesome achievement'. Not only has it crushed Titanic's (1997) lifetime collections, but could also beat Avatar (2009) which is now the most successful movie, ever made!

Despite the great numbers, the latest from Marvel/Disney is most likely going to lose its previous title as the "fastest-grossing movie".

The years most awaited release 'Avengers: Endgame' is finally out and we are loving it. Marvel's new movie is a roller coaster ride of action and emotion that left fans drained by the time it ended.

But considering the two and a half weeks Endgame has been in theaters, and the repeat business it has been attracting, the all-time record is well within its reach.

Speaking after the opening weekend, Disney Studios chairman, Alan Horn, told Variety: "The Marvel Studios team have continued to challenge notions of what is possible at the movie theatre both in terms of storytelling and at the box office".
