It's the transfer that everyone has been expecting and it's now very close to being a done deal.

As reported by Telegraph Sport on Thursday, negotiations between the clubs had been taking place all week.

The 28-year-old, who has just one year left on his current contract at Chelsea, will join Real for an initial fee of $112 million, as multiple add-ons now agreed could take the deal to over $165 million.

"He has been a model professional throughout his time at the club, a wonderful individual to have around and a joy to work with".

Real Madrid announce that an agreement has been reached with Chelsea for the transfer of Eden Hazard.

He guided Belgium to a third-place finish at the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation and followed up with a sparkling start to the Premier League season - form which reignited talk of a move to La Liga.

Hazard netted 110 goals and 81 assists in 352 matches during his seven-year stint for the Blues, winning a pair of Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge (2014-15 and 2016-17).

Hazard signed off in ideal style, spearheading the 4-1 Europa League final triumph over Arsenal in Baku, scoring twice and assisting another.

Hazard also becomes Chelsea most expensive departure, replacing the previous record sale of Diego Costa for €66 million.

Chelsea said the move is subject to Hazard passing a medical with Madrid but wished the forward well on his move. Hazard has said that he wants a new challenge, and there's quite a big one at hand in the Spanish capital.

According to The Evening Standard, Hazard has accepted an offer from Real which would see him double his current Chelsea wages.
